With the new school year in full swing, we thought it fitting to post an update about our very own Class of 2014, our Impact Scholarship winners.
Back in June we launched our new Impact Scholarship Programme, to hunt for the boldest and brightest people working in the most innovative and disruptive businesses across tech for good, alternative finance, renewables, healthcare, employment and education. Our aim being to invest in the next generation of London’s social startups through one full Scholarship and 5 part-Scholarships to teams of up to 6 people.
The standard of applications was outstanding, which made the selection of 15 finalists extremely difficult. Those that made it through were invited to our space to pitch live on the evening of Wednesday 23rd July. In true collaborative style the Impact Hub Westminster community voted together to choose its new members.

From creating “the black box for the cell”, to digital theories of change, to democratising land ownership – the breadth of solutions for social and environmental problems was truly remarkable. After the final Q&A round, hosted by Managing Director Alex Soskin, the community commenced voting.

We were excited to announce the full Impact Scholarship winner as Microgenius Ltd, a community shares platform making it easier to invest in community-based projects! Our 5 part-Scholarship winners were the teams from Open Play, Helix Nanotechnologies, My promise, Innovation experience and Land Wiki. We were so impressed with the quality of pitches that Alex Soksin was pleased to offer all of the Scholarship Finalists (full list below) Connection membership packages to allow them to connect to the community online.
